Stories from Our Generations Family

Recovering from a Fall

February 26, 2016

Diagnosis:

Virginia B. is an 86-year-old woman who suffered from a fall at home which caused altered mental status and generalized weakness. Her family was extremely concerned with whether she would be able to return home, and if rehabilitation would be beneficial at that point and time.

Personalized Treatment & Therapy Plan:

Virginia participated in intense physical, speech and occupational therapy six times per week at Generations at Oakton.

Results:

Virginia was able to complete her rehabilitation 5 weeks before scheduled discharge, and she was able to go back home with her family and return to her daily activities.

Family Feedback:

They have been great with her in the three to four weeks that she has been there. I have seen an improvement…. I appreciate that they take care of her like they should. They are very attentive…. Everybody is very friendly. I appreciate the physical therapy and speech therapy. I know that my mom is in good hands.
